Our Structured Sober Living Program for Men in Texas

Drew’s Sober Living runs an accountability-based recovery program across three men’s sober living homes in San Antonio and New Braunfels. Daily breathalyzer testing, bi-weekly drug screening, a 30-hour weekly work requirement, mandatory 12-step meetings, and financial literacy training. 127 men have lived in the program since 2023. 83% of residents who moved out did so sober. There is no fixed timeline; men transition to independent living when they are ready.

Drew’s Sober Living is a structured recovery residence and does not provide clinical treatment or medical services.

What the Program Requires From Every Resident

Every man who lives at Drew’s Sober Living follows the same five requirements regardless of which house he enters.

  • Daily breathalyzer testing: every resident, every morning, before anything else.ย
  • Bi-weekly drug screening: scheduled and consistent across all three houses. Any positive or refused breathalyzer or drug screening results in immediate discharge in accordance with house policy. Standards are applied consistently to protect every resident under the same roof.
  • 30-hour weekly work requirement: residents must hold employment, attend school, or participate in vocational training. The requirement starts early and stays in place throughout the entire stay.
  • Daily 12-step meeting attendance: AA, NA, CA, or equivalent. One meeting per day, every day. House managers help new residents find meetings that match their schedule and recovery path.
  • Financial literacy training: budgeting, setting up checking and savings accounts, spending tracking, and credit rebuilding. Every resident participates. This is not optional.

What a Typical Day Looks Like at Drew's Sober Living

Morning starts with breathalyzer testing. After testing, the house meets for an accountability check-in, and each man reports on recovery goals, employment progress, and challenges from the day before.

By mid-morning, residents leave for work, school, or vocational training. Afternoons include sponsor meetings, personal development time, and house responsibilities shared across all residents. Evenings bring a required 12-step meeting followed by group reflection.

Nightly curfews are enforced and adjusted based on time in the program and demonstrated responsibility. Every day follows the same structure, the same accountability from morning testing through evening reflection.

How the Program Builds Men Who Live Independently

Drew’s Sober Living does not exist to keep men in a program. It exists to build men who no longer need one.

The 30-hour work requirement means residents are employed or in training within the first weeks, not waiting for motivation to arrive. Financial literacy training teaches men how to budget, save, and manage credit so they leave with skills that keep them stable. Daily meetings and sponsor relationships build a recovery network that holds long after a resident moves out. Daily testing and accountability check-ins build the discipline that independent living demands.

127 men have lived in the program since 2023. 74 Google reviews with a 5.0 average rating. 83% of residents who moved out did so sober.

How Long Men Stay and Why There Is No Fixed Timeline

The average resident stays 8 months. Some men stay 90 days. Some stay over a year.

Drew’s Sober Living does not operate on a predetermined graduation date. Sober living is a bridge back to independent, stable living, not a program to complete on a schedule. Residents transition out when they have stable employment, financial skills, a sober support network, and demonstrated readiness to live on their own. The program supports that timeline, not the other way around.
