A Blueprint For Recovery

From Chaos to Community: What Life at Drew’s Sober Living Really Looks Like

So you’ve finished rehab. First off—seriously, congratulations. You did the hardest part: you put down the shovel and stopped digging. But here’s the thing nobody really talks about: what comes next can feel like trying to assemble IKEA furniture in the dark without instructions.

That’s where we come in.

At Drew’s Sober Living, we’re not running some high-security bunker where you feel like you’re being watched 24/7. We’ve built something different here—a real brotherhood. It’s less about “rules because we said so” and more about “let’s figure out how to be functional adults who remember to do dishes and show up for each other.”

We’ve got houses in San Antonio (Chittim and Evergreen) and New Braunfels (Chapel House). Here’s what you actually need to know about joining the family.

Day One: The “I Just Arrived” Survival Guide

The moment you walk through the door, you’re not just another tenant. You’re a licensee in a program that’s actually designed to help you grow. Your journey starts with our Move-In Orientation, which is basically your golden ticket to getting settled in.

Here’s what happens when you arrive:

You’ll meet your house manager and roommates, and yeah, you’re getting added to the house group text immediately. This is where all the magic happens—along with the occasional “whose turn is it to take out the trash?” reminder.

We’ll show you around: your bed, the bathroom, kitchen, laundry room—all the essentials. And because we know you need to stay connected to the world, you’ll get the Wi-Fi password right away. We’ve also got Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime logins for the house, plus PlayStation and Xbox for when you need to decompress after a long day of, you know, adulting.

The House Rules (Or: How to Keep Your Ten Bucks)

Look, when you’re living with a bunch of guys, you need some structure. We’re not a crash pad where you can hide in your room all day. We’re a community that actually engages, hangs out, and pushes each other to be better.

So here are the basics to keep things running smoothly:

Make your bed and keep your space clean. If your room looks like a laundry hamster exploded in it, we’re going to have a conversation. And you might get fined.

Wash your own dishes. This is the big one. Do not—and I cannot stress this enough—leave your dishes in the sink hoping the Dish Fairy will take care of them. She doesn’t live here. Leaving dishes in common areas? That’s a $10 fine.

Don’t eat other people’s food. If it’s not yours, don’t touch it. Stealing someone’s leftover pizza isn’t just annoying, it’s another $10 fine.

Pro tip: If you want to keep your money for the gym or a nice meal out, just clean up after yourself and show up to mandatory house meetings on time. It’s really that simple.

Accountability: The Secret Sauce

Here’s the deal—at Drew’s Sober Living, accountability is everything. We don’t just take your word for it because we genuinely care about your progress and everyone else’s safety.

We do daily breathalyzers. We perform random drug testing. If you’re coming back from an overnight pass or extended visit, expect to get tested right away. It’s not personal; it’s about keeping this house a safe place for everyone working on their recovery.

And this part is absolutely non-negotiable: we have zero tolerance for drugs, alcohol, or banned substances. That includes things like Kratom, K2, or CBD. If we find use or possession, you’re immediately dismissed from the program.

We’re not trying to be the fun police. We’re trying to protect the sober environment that everyone here needs and deserves.

Get Up, Get Out, Get Busy

You can’t build a new life from your bed at 2:00 PM every afternoon. Unless you’ve got a full-time job, classes, or a volunteer position, you need to be up by 10:00 AM Monday through Friday.

Here’s our 20-hour rule: every resident needs to be productive for at least 20 hours per week. That can look like employment, school, or volunteering—whatever gets you moving forward.

If you’re struggling to find work, don’t stress. We’ll help you connect with local resources like the Workforce Commission. Some guys even do plasma donation while they’re hunting for the right job. We’re here to help you figure it out.

Your First 30 Days: The Blackout Phase

When you first move in, you’re in a 30-day probationary period. Think of it as sobriety boot camp.

Curfew is 10:00 PM on weeknights, 11:00 PM on weekends. No overnight passes during this phase—you’ve got to be home every night. And you’re required to attend all your 12-step recovery meetings and in-house meetings. Finding a sponsor and working the steps isn’t optional here.

It might sound intense, but this is where you build your foundation.

Why It’s Worth It

Don’t just take my word for it. Listen to what our residents and their families have said.

Dylan Carter called DSL “a blessing” that helped his loved one build a real foundation for long-term growth. Robert Correa Jr. talked about how our management team helped him settle in and completely transformed his mental and physical strength. Jay raves about how spacious and clean the houses are, and how nice the neighborhood streets are for morning walks.

We’re not just providing a roof over your head. We’re providing a bridge to independent living. We’re building a brotherhood where men actually show up for each other every single day.

The Money Stuff

Let’s talk logistics because I know finances can be tricky. We try to keep things flexible with tailored programs.

To move in, you’ll need two weeks of rent plus a move-in fee. Just know that these are non-refundable. Weekly fees are due every Friday by 8:00 PM, and we make it easy—you can pay through our online portal (Tenant Cloud) with credit cards or ACH transactions.

Your New Beginning Starts Right Now

Here’s the truth: recovery isn’t a solo sport. It’s a team effort.

At Drew’s Sober Living, you’ll find mentors who have actual lived recovery experience. You’ll find a safe space to grow. And most importantly, you’ll find a group of men who genuinely want to see you succeed.

If you’re ready to stop drifting and start driving your life forward, give Drew a call at (682) 362-4280. Whether you’re looking at our San Antonio or New Braunfels locations, we’re here to listen, support you, and walk this journey alongside you.

It’s time to become the best version of yourself.
